Urgent Humanitarian Appeal

 

On February 6th, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Turkey's eastern province, causing widespread devastation and loss of life. According to official reports, the death toll is currently over 20,000 people and more than 78,000 people are injured. Many buildings, including homes and schools, are severely damaged if not completely destroyed, leaving hundreds of thousands of people homeless and in need of immediate humanitarian assistance. The region is in urgent need of medical supplies, food, shelter, and other basic necessities. The earthquake also caused power outages and communication disruptions, making it difficult for rescue teams to reach those in need. The situation is dire and calls for immediate action to provide aid and support to the affected communities.

 

Freezing weather further adds to the despair as those now displaced have lost everything and are trying to survive in impossible climates. To help play our role in the aftermath of the devastation, we at Rabia Nisar Foundation are working to send high quality single person blankets for those bracing freezing temperatures. To maximize the utility of our money, we are buying these blankets direct from factories in Pakistan at a very reasonable rate to provide as much as we can with the money raised. The Pakistani government along with the Turkish Embassy in Pakistan are working in unison to collect clothes, hygienic products, shoes, blankets, money, etc, to send to Turkey daily via Turkish Airlines. This allows us to utilize every single dollar raised into obtaining warm blankets without paying for extra shipping costs.
